Moldovan leader Maia Sandu said that Chisinau wants to conclude a long-term contract with Bucharest for the supply of natural gas, TASS reports.
“We could not find an alternative, because everyone is looking for gas today, and Moldova is a small consumer and is not very interested in those who sell gas,” she said and explained that Chisinau “does not have clear answers and predictability, despite the contract.”
In addition, Sandu expressed confidence that Bucharest will increase gas production. She added that she came to Romania in order to “negotiate urgent solutions in case the worst scenarios are confirmed.”
The Moldovan President made an official visit to Bucharest, during which she held talks with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Nicolae Chuca.
Earlier, Sandu stated that Moldova has nothing to replace Russian gas.
The head of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy, Alexei Pushkov, expressed the opinion that Sandu wants to turn the country into a “Romanian province.”
