Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said there was nothing in the food deal to prevent Russia from continuing the special operation.
“Our Western colleagues, in principle, have already become adept at presenting any news in a distorted way, only in the form in which it can be used against Russia, which no longer surprises me,” RIA Novosti quotes him.
He said this during a joint press conference following talks with the Foreign Minister of the Congo in response to a request to comment on Western estimates of a Russian attack on a Ukrainian ship in the port of Odessa.
“If we talk about the episode that you mentioned and which took place in Odessa, then there is nothing in the obligations that Russia assumed, including within the framework of the agreements signed on July 22 in Istanbul, which would prohibit us from continuing a special military operation, destroying the military infrastructure and other military targets,” he added.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that two documents were signed in Istanbul on July 22, which are aimed at solving the problems of supplying food and fertilizers to world markets.
The first document is a memorandum that involves the involvement of the UN in lifting various restrictions on the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to world markets.
