A Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said on Friday that Russian armed forces have destroyed U.S.-made HIMARS multiple rocket launchers held by Ukraine in a series of recent military strikes, while the Ukrainian side claimed on the same day that its forces have repelled Russian attacks on multiple fronts, Reuters reports.
Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on the day that from July 5 to 20, Russia forces destroyed four sets of High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) rocket launchers provided by the United States to Ukraine and a transportation and loading vehicle of Ukrainian forces in Donetsk in eastern Ukraine with high-precision ground-based and air-based weapons.
The Russian army also carried out large-scale shelling in Sumy, Chernigov and other regions on Friday.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said on Friday that Ukrainian forces repelled attacks of Russian forces in Kramatorsk, Bakhmut and Zaporozhye, and Russia failed its attempt to control the Uglegorsk power plant.
According to video clips released by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on Friday, Ukraine attacked a Russian military camp and military facilities near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station with drones, causing fires in the military camp and killing and injuring several Russian soldiers.
Russian local media also reported the attack on Wednesday, saying that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station was attacked by Ukrainian drones, causing fire in the administrative building and injuring several staff members, while the reactor and other infrastructure remained undamaged amid the strike.
Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian President's Office, stated on Friday that Ukraine needs more weapons to end the conflict with Russia before winter.
