On July 20, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan received the delegation led by the Vice President of FRG Bundestag Katrin Göring-Eckardt. The sides greatly highlighted the stable development of Armenia-Germany friendly relations and the deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
During the talk the necessity of parliamentary multi-layer cooperation, joint projects between the NA and the Bundestag was in the centre of attention and stressed. “Germany is the biggest trade-economic partner of Armenia among the EU countries. We also highly appreciate the assistance of Germany to the democratic agenda of Armenia,” Alen Simonyan noted.
At the meeting issues regarding the post-war situation, establishing lasting peace in the region were discussed. The NA President noted that Armenia has an agenda of opening an era of peace in the region and makes efforts in deblockading the regional infrastructures and transport communications, delimitation and border security. He emphasized that Armenia has no regional demands towards its neighbours.
The German colleague informed that they watchfully observe the events going on in the region and expressed conviction that the peaceful negotiations are considered to be the effective way for the solution of the conflicts.
During the meeting, the organization of the well-known Christian Prayer Breakfast being part of the rich parliamentary tradition of Germany, as well as practical issues relating to the renewable energy were discussed.
Issues relating to the post-war situation, the establishment of lasting peace in the region were discussed. The Speaker of Parliament said that Armenia is acting with an agenda to open a peaceful era in the region and is making efforts both in the direction of unblocking of regional infrastructures and transportation routes, and of delimitation and border security. He said Armenia has no territorial claims towards its neighbors.
The German Bundestag Vice-President said they closely follow the developments happening in the region and expressed confidence that peaceful negotiations are an effective mean to solve conflicts.
The sides also discussed practical issues relating to the organization of Christian Prayer Breakfast, a part of Germany’s rich parliamentary tradition, as well as renewable energy-related matters.
