The destruction of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (MLRSs) and a warehouse of Harpoon anti-ship missiles in Odessa is bad news for NATO. British columnist and journalist Jack Buckby expressed this opinion in an article for 19FortyFive on 17 July.
He specified that the US has already sent eight HIMARS units to Kiev, in addition to which Ukraine will soon receive four more.
Buckby believes that Russia’s elimination of HIMARS and Harpoon, which are the best artillery designs of Western countries, was “sad news” for Ukraine. Kiev had been using Harpoon missiles since the first days of the Russian special operation.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Defence Ministry reported the destruction of a warehouse with Harpoon anti-ship missiles at an industrial facility in Odessa.
Also in the last 24 hours, the Russian Armed Forces destroyed from Ukrainian troops a launcher and a loader of the US HIMARS missile system. The strike was carried out near Krasnoarmiysk in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
In June, Ukraine’s coastline was reinforced with US Harpoon anti-ship systems. This was announced by Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov. Military expert Dmytro Boltenkov, in his turn, warned about the danger of this type of weaponry.
