The EU will have to pay for anti-Russian sanctions and the coming winter could be the worst in 60 years. This was stated by Romanian Vice Prime Minister Kelemen Hunor, Ria Novosti writes.
According to Honor, the sanctions imposed against Russia due to the start of the special operation in Ukraine were necessary because “there were no other levers of influence”. However, they will be a tough test for Europe as well.
“Unfortunately, we will all pay the price this winter, and there are currently no signs of an end to the war (…) this will be a harsh winter, perhaps the harshest winter in the last 40-50-60 years for everyone. Of Europe,” he said on the air of TV company B1.
At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister promised that Romania will survive this winter without significant losses, as the authorities can provide about 80% of the country’s needs on the gas market.
“We have to buy about 2 billion cubic meters on the market (…) I am sure we will buy gas to have electricity and, due to compensation, to survive the winter,” he assured.
