Relations between Yerevan, Armenia, and Lyon, France, which started in 1992, will be transferred to a new practical phase, Yerevan Municipality informs.
Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan, who is in Lyon to attend the fourth forum of the Armenian-French decentralized cooperation, met with his Lyon colleague, Gregory Doucet.
The Mayor of Lyon noted that Yerevan is of special importance among their partner cities. Also, Doucet expressed confidence that the aforementioned forum will open new perspectives and opportunities to take the partnership between the two cities to a new practical phase.
The Mayor of Yerevan, in his turn, highlighted the implementation of important programs and the exchange of experience, and invited his Lyon counterpart to pay a reciprocal visit to the Armenian capital city.
During the official meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the city halls of Yerevan and Lyon. Pursuant to this document, the two parties pledged to join efforts in the field of education, supporting the development of the French-Armenian vocational training center.
In particular, the program of reorganization of the crafts and qualifications campus will be implemented, which will give an opportunity to expand the building conditions of the center and to implement new educational programs in demand in the labor market.
It should be noted that about 200 students are currently receiving vocational education at the French-Armenian Vocational Training Center, and the improvement of building conditions will allow for the admission of more young people.
