The President of Azerbaijan promised to release a group of captives in the presence of the President of the European Council, but this did not happen. Today, in an online interview with media outlets and NGOs, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in response to a reporter's question about the captives.
“I confirm that during the meeting the President of Azerbaijan promised in the presence of the President of the European Council that the captives would be released, but at our next meeting we stated that this promise was not fulfilled. I do not want to go into details now, but I can say that it was recorded, a promise was made, and the promise was not fulfilled.
The President of Azerbaijan tried to attribute to me a promise that I also promised something, in particular, regarding the route of communications in the region, that I would provide specific coordinates of the route, as if I had made such a promise, but I did not make such a promise. Our position is that we will start discussing routes only after we come to an agreement over legal regulations," said Nikol Pashinyan.
