Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov called unresolved the issue of arms supplies from the West. His statement leads RBC.
The politician said that Ukraine is in talks to provide it with modern tanks and aircraft, but Western leaders have not yet made a decision on this issue. “This is an issue that we continue to discuss with partners, to convince us that we also need this. A political decision on the provision of modern tanks and aircraft has not yet been made,” he said.
Reznikov stressed that in 2021, the American authorities also refused to send Stinger man-portable air defense systems to Ukraine, but the deliveries nevertheless began after the start of the Russian special operation. According to him, about a thousand complexes have been received so far. In addition, the minister called the adoption of the Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled artillery mounts from Germany a “tectonic shift”.
In addition, the politician explained why the supply of weapons and equipment from other countries, as a rule, takes a long time. “We receive many things from the armed forces or from warehouses that are subject to reactivation and restoration. Plus, we need to teach our guys and finance instructors, and this is 2-3 weeks of preparation,” concluded Reznikov.
June 16 General Secretary NATO Jens Stoltenberg told that the alliance is ready to continue to help Kyiv weapons at all costs, even despite the attempts of the Russian military to strike at the delivered goods.
