According to preliminary data, some of the Chernomorneftegaz drilling rigs employees could not be rescued. The rigs were attacked by the Ukrainian military on Monday. However, there is hope to discover those who were missing alive, Oleg Kryuchkov, adviser to the head of Crimea on information policy wrote on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.
"The rescue operation continues in the Black Sea. According to preliminary information, we didn’t manage to rescue everyone, but there is still hope," Kryuchkov wrote.
Crimea’s head, Sergey Aksyonov, reported on Monday that the Ukrainian side had delivered three strikes on Chernomorneftegaz drilling rigs in the Black Sea. There were 109 people there, 94 were evacuated, three were injured, and seven are still missing. The search for them continues.
The Crimean-based Chernomorneftegaz is an enterprise with 100% state participation. The company’s main activity is the production of natural gas and gas condensate, it has a license for the exploration and production of hydrocarbons. Chernomorneftegaz operates hydrocarbon deposits on the shelf of the Black and Azov Seas and on the Crimean peninsula’s shore.
