During a press conference with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan stated that he highly appreciates the support rendered by the Council of Europe to the democratic development of Armenia.
“We are confident that we will continue effective cooperation with the organization.
In this context, I would like to express my gratitude for the assistance provided by the PACE observation missions in holding free and fair elections in Armenia, and emphasize that the 2018 and 2021 snap parliamentary elections in Armenia have been recognized by the Council of Europe as meeting the highest standards of democracy,” he said.
Mirzoyan noted that the action plan implemented by the organization for Armenia is an important tool of cooperation with the Council of Europe.
“This format of program cooperation is important both for the effective implementation of a number of strategic programs of the Armenian Government and for the fulfillment of our commitments within the framework of the Council of Europe in general,” Mirzoyan said.
He stressed that in 2018 the people of Armenia unanimously chose and in 2021 reaffirmed the path of democratic development, strengthening of democratic institutions, protection of human rights, ensuring the rule of law, and the irreconcilable fight against corruption.
