Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost about 10,000 servicemen since the start of the special operation to protect Donbass.
“At the beginning of the conflict, we had 100 people per day on average,” he said.
When asked whether it is possible, based on these calculations, to say that the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost up to 10 thousand soldiers during the entire period of the special operation, the adviser to the head of the presidential office replied: “Yes, somewhere like that.”
Arestovich also pointed to the slow arming of Ukraine by Western countries.
The day before, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said that Ukraine loses from 100 to 200 servicemen every day. According to him, this is due to “lack of parity between the capabilities of the parties.” He added that Kyiv needs to receive hundreds of artillery systems and up to 300 rocket systems from the West.
A day earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Oleksiy Reznikov, also reported losses on the Ukrainian side. He noted that up to 100 Ukrainians die every day during the special operation.
On the same day, The Independent newspaper reported that Ukrainian troops were suffering huge losses due to the fact that they were inferior to Russia in artillery and ammunition. According to the publication, Kyiv has practically exhausted all available reserves, while the Russian army does not intend to give up positions.
