The European Parliament has published a report on security issues in the Eastern Partnership region. The report mentions, among other things, the 44-day war provoked by Azerbaijan changed the status quo in the South Caucasus, resulting in thousands of casualties and displacement.
The report again mentions the resolution adopted by the European Parliament in May 2021, which demands from Azerbaijan the immediate and unconditional release of all Armenian captives.
The report emphasizes that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has not been settled. The European Parliament has expressed its deep concern over the ongoing tensions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, recalling that the main gas pipeline to Nagorno-Karabakh was damaged in March, leaving the region without access to energy.
The European Parliament has been able to address humanitarian issues, including the full release of prisoners of conscience, the fate of the missing, the promotion of demining, the safe and free movement of civilians in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the provision of assistance to those affected by the conflict
