Turkish President Recem Tayyip Erdogan has been nominated by the country’s ruling Workers’ Party as a candidate from the People’s Alliance in the upcoming presidential elections in 2023. This became known on Saturday, June 4.
“The People’s Alliance candidate will be our President Tayyip Erdogan. We have finally decided on this topic,” said AKP spokesman Omer Celik following the party congress.
It is noted that the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey are scheduled for June next year.
The People’s Alliance ruling bloc includes the AKP and the far-right Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), reports the Anaber portal.
It is also known that the opposition parties have not yet named their candidates. At the same time, the bloc of six opposition parties insists on holding early elections.
