According to the Syunik regional administration, Governor Robert Ghukasyan took part in a reception organized within the framework of events dedicated to Europe Day on May 24 in Goris.
The event was attended by the Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, members of the delegation, diplomats from other countries, representatives of international and local organizations.
Robert Ghukasyan made an opening speech with Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin.
Addressing those present, the governor particularly said:
“As you know, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Armenia-EU relations. One of the main values of 30 years of cooperation has been the protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms, and Syunik is the corner of Armenia where those rights are most highlighted these days. Therefore, I thank those present for celebrating Europe Day in Syunik.
During these years, Armenia and the EU have made joint efforts to create a democratic country and have largely achieved success.
“Many programs in Syunik have been implemented with the support of the European Union, and I am sure they will be continuous, as the province needs them more today."
