Armenia’s High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan was on a working visit to Syria and Lebanon. In Syria, the High Commissioner had meetings in Damascus and Aleppo. During his trip, the High Commissioner met with representatives of the local Armenian community, spiritual (Armenian Apostolic, Catholic, Evangelical), charitable organizations (AGBU, Jinishian, Karagyozyan), traditional parties (SDHP, ADL, ARF), Homenetmen and businessmen.
In addition, Zareh Sinanyan met with the Chair of the Syria-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group of the People’s Assembly of the Syrian Arab Republic Lucy Iskenian, member of the Syrian Parliament Nora Arissian, and the Mayor of Kessab Vazgen Chaparyan.
During the meetings, Zareh Sinanyan presented our Office’s programs and activities and answered questions related to Armenia and Artsakh, repatriation, preservation of the Armenian identity, and other topics.
During his one-day visit to Lebanon, the High Commissioner met with His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia, with the Patriarch of the Armenian Catholic Church, His Beatitude Raphaël Bedros Minassian and with the Vice President of the Union of Armenian Evangelical Churches of the Near East and President of Haigazian University, Paul Haidostian.
Issues and programs related to the Armenia-Diaspora cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
