Ukrainian flags have disappeared from city buses and trams in Warsaw, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports.
Previously, the yellow-blue flag of Ukraine was placed on buses and trams along with the flag of Warsaw. This action was launched at the end of February as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine after the start of a special military operation of the Russian Federation in this country.
“From May 4, 2022, the decoration of vehicles with the flag of Warsaw and the flag of Ukraine is suspended,” the Warsaw City Hall informed on its official website, without giving the reasons for this decision.
Earlier, many Polish lawyers pointed to the fact that the placement of the flag of Ukraine on public transport in the Polish capital was carried out in violation of the rules, since according to the law, the flag of a foreign state should only be displayed on a par with the flag of Poland. In this case, the Ukrainian flag “accompanied” only the flag of Warsaw.
Yellow-blue flags of Ukraine in recent weeks in Poland can be found everywhere. They are hung on buildings, official institutions, schools. Often the rule of placing the Polish flag in an equal position is not observed, which causes protests from many citizens.
