International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Baku office visited conscript Eduard Martirosov kept in Azerbaijan.
Zara Amatuni, Head of Communication Programs of the Red Cross delegation in Armenia, told ‘Lurer’ that they got acquainted with the conditions of Eduard Martirosov's detention and helped to establish contact with the family.
Zara Amatuni (Head of Communication Programs, ICRC Delegation in Armenia) - This was our first visit to that person. Within the framework of the Red Cross Committee, it was possible to contact the family in the form of a letter and a message from the Red Cross.
The focus of the visit was to register him first, to check his detention conditions, his health condition, and then we hope that such visits, as long as he is there, will be regular.
It should be reminded that the Ministry of Defense informed that on April 23, on the way from the military unit to the military base, the connection with the soldier was lost.
It turned out that Martirosov had crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border under unknown circumstances, was on the Azerbaijani side, and steps were being taken to return him.
An official investigation has been appointed into the incident on the instructions of the Minister of Defense.
