The Kremlin regards as provocative a statement by a Kyiv official to the effect the Ukrainian army may put Transnistria under control, Russian presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media on Wednesday, TASS reports.
"It’s rather provocative. This is all I can say," Peskov said when asked for a comment on a statement by an adviser to the chief of the Ukrainian presidential office, Alexey Arestovich, to the effect the Ukrainian army might put under control the territory of the self-proclaimed Transnistria at Moldova’s request.
The Transnistrian authorities say that three terrorist attacks were committed on the republic’s territory on Monday and Tuesday. Two antennas of the television and radio center in the community of Mayak were blown up and the building of the State Security Ministry was attacked with grenade launchers. Several explosions occurred at a military airdrome in Tiraspol. There were no reports of casualties.
Moldova’s President Maia Sandu alleged that behind the terrorist attacks were what she described as "forces interested in destabilization" inside Transnistria. The leader of the self-proclaimed republic, Vadim Krasnoselsky, said that according to preliminary findings the acts of sabotage had been committed from Ukrainian territory and asked Kyiv for assistance in conducting the investigation.
