The recent terror attacks in the self-proclaimed Transnistrian republic can be traced to Ukraine, Transnistria President Vadim Krasnoselsky said on Tuesday, TASS reports.
"As the first conclusions of urgent operational and investigative measures suggest, these attacks can be traced to Ukraine… I presume that those who plotted these attacks pursue the goal of drawing Transnistria into the conflict. I can say for sure that these attempts will fail," the Transnistrian leader said in a statement posted by his press office.
The head of Transnistria called on Kiev "to investigate the facts of the illegal relocation of particular combat groups and the terror attacks that they committed" on Transnistrian territory. He also asked Chisinau not to succumb to provocations. "Do not allow drawing Moldova into aggression against Transnistria," Krasnoselsky said.
On April 26, unidentified assailants blew up two antennae of the regional radio center in the community of Mayak of the Grigoriopol district in Transnistria. On Monday, the building of the Transnistrian State Security Ministry in Tiraspol was shelled from hand-held grenade launchers and a military unit in the village of Parkany was attacked. There have been no reports about victims so far.
Following a series of terror attacks, the Transnistrian president held a meeting of the republic’s Security Council that made a decision to declare heightened terror alert for 15 days and bolster security measures.
