Hello everyone. My name is Essam Nagy, I am a film director, I live in Cairo.
107 years ago, humanity witnessed one of the bloodiest crimes in its history, the Armenian Genocide committed by Ottoman Turkey.
April 24, 1915 is the day when one and a half million Armenians were killed because of their identities, the day when hundreds of thousands of children lost their families and women were crucified.
Today, in 2022, Armenians and Armenia still exist, after all the atrocities, murders, after all the hatred, they still exist, but only in a small part of their historical lands.
Armenia and Armenians still face many dangers, but I believe that they are able to unite and to make a decision to overcome, as they did before.
I support the Armenian struggle because it is a fair struggle, I urge every intellectual, artist, director to do the same, starting with the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
In 2022, I still remember, and I will continue to demand the protection of the rights of Armenians and Armenia.
