Within the framework of his working visit to Gyumri, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan got acquainted with the ongoing renovation and furnishing works carried out at the Care Center for the Elderly in Gyumri. During the visit, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan and the Governor of Shirak Nazeli Baghdasaryan.
The Prime Minister toured the center and talked to the elderly people living here, who thanked the Prime Minister for keeping their problems in the spotlight and finding solutions.
According to the officials in charge, in line with the memorandum of cooperation signed between the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Armenian Red Cross Society on December 18, 2019, after the dissolution of the Gyumri nursing home, the care of the residents is carried out by the ARCS. At the heart of the memorandum is the improvement of the quality of life of the elderly and people with disabilities living in the nursing home, providing better conditions, round-the-clock care, medical, social and psychological services.
The Head of the Government was also informed that the ARCS has assumed the obligation to renovate and furnish three of the five buildings. At least 163 million AMD is planned to be invested for the improvement of the quality of services and living conditions. According to the contract, the organization receives about 250 million AMD annually from the state budget to provide round-the-clock care to 160 beneficiaries. At the moment, the actual number of beneficiaries is 143.
