French President Emmanuel Macron called the Russians, the Ukrainians "brotherly peoples", did not assess Russia's actions in Ukraine as genocide, noting that now one must be careful with terms.
"Russians and Ukrainians are brotherly peoples. What is happening is madness, this is a return to war in Europe. I want to do everything possible to end this war and restore peace," Macron told France 2.
Earlier, the French leader announced that he plans to hold talks with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and possibly Russian President Vladimir Putin, in the coming days.
