President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko denied the possibility of the country becoming part of Russia. He told reporters in Vladivostok about this, Interfax reports.
“They say that Belarus will be included in Russia. Putin and I are not stupid enough to follow the old methods. We will build a union of two independent states that many other will learn a lot from us, including how to overcome sanctions and so on,” Lukashenko said.
He noted that Belarus and Russia have begun to work closely together in the context of increasing sanctions, which gives new impetus.
“The period of sanctions is a time of opportunity. Finally, we started cooperating with Russia as we should have done a long time ago,” he said.
On April 12, Lukashenko held talks with President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the Vostochnaya space station in the Amur oblast (province). In particular, they discussed cooperation in the space industry.
