Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted at the Parliament session that after the instruction of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Brussels to start preparations for the future peace treaty, to hold negotiations and contacts in this direction, criticism was voiced that Armenia had renounced the idea of holding talks under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group.
“The reality is a little different. We have not given up on that idea, but you know that relations within the co-chairs are extremely tense due to the events in Ukraine. By the way, this tension started in 2011 with the events in Syria, which inevitably had an impact on our regional developments.
And even now, given that tension, we cannot passively wait for the co-chairs to act, on the other hand, the start of bilateral talks does not in any way prohibit the involvement of the co-chairs in the process.
And, yes, we are convinced that the preparations for the process must start immediately, we must hope that the foreign ministries of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be able to fulfill the given instructions in due time,” Pashinyan says.
The Prime Minister considers it important that today the entire international community is ready to support the process.
“This opportunity must be really used,” he said.
