The authorities of the Republic of Korea during their meetings with the NATO Military Committee Chair, Admiral Rob Bauer, reaffirmed the official position that Seoul will not send lethal weapons to Ukraine. This was reported by Yonhap, citing a NATO representative.
In Seoul on Monday, Bauer met with Won In-choul and Seoul's Defense Minister Suh Wook and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen.
"We have stated our official position that only non-lethal items will be delivered," Bauer said during a meeting with the South Korean military.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea with a request for military assistance. Korean Defense Minister Suh Wook has ruled out the possibility of supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine. He explained that there are restrictions on the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine, taking into account the security situation in Korea.
At the same time, Seoul plans to provide another $30 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, bringing its total to $40 million. Assistance includes helmets, blankets, first aid kits, tents, etc.
