The United States remains committed to promoting a peaceful, democratic, and prosperous future for the South Caucasus region.
Press Service of the US State Department reports stated this answering to ‘Lurer’’s question whether as a co-chairing country, the United States is committed to pursuing a comprehensive settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh in line with its mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs? ‘Lurer’ reminded that during a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on April 8, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated: “Our so-called French-American partners in the russophobic mania, seeking to cancel everything connected with Russia, have cancelled the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, announcing that they will not communicate with us in that format.”
“We urge Armenia and Azerbaijan to continue and intensify their diplomatic engagement, and to make use of existing mechanisms for direct engagement, to find comprehensive solutions to all outstanding issues related to or resulting from the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and to normalize their relations through the conclusion of a comprehensive peace agreement,” the reply letter reads.
The State Department informs that “the United States remains ready to assist Armenia and Azerbaijan with these efforts, including in our capacity as a Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group.”
