Today, President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received Christine Weigand, the Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
President Khachaturyan mentioned that Armenia highly appreciates the role of the UN Children's Fund in the protection of children's rights in Armenia, in solving the problems of improving their health and living conditions.
The President especially emphasized the importance of implementing programs aimed at children displaced from Arsakh due to the war, also the children living in the communities affected by the conflict and those living in the border areas. He welcomed the UNICEF's efforts to introduce inclusive education in schools and pre-schools.
At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the implementation of joint programs, related especially to education.
The interlocutors expressed confidence that in the future, taking into consideration Armenia's priorities and goals, the UNICEF will work closely with relevant government agencies to ensure the protection and welfare of children, adolescents and young people.
