The meeting between me and the President of Azerbaijan took place in Brussels yesterday until late last night through the mediation of the President of the European Council Charles Michel. As a result of the meeting, a decision was made on two issues, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan informed about it during the Government session.
The Prime Minister said that the foreign ministers of the two countries have been instructed to start preparations for a future peace agreement, and to hold talks and contacts in this direction.
According to Nikol Pashinyan, this means that the principles and issues presented by Armenia and Azerbaijan on the peace agreement should be brought together and addressed as a result of the talks.
“In my speech at the previous Government session, I voiced our concerns in this regard. You are aware that in response to Azerbaijan's proposals, we stressed that there is nothing unacceptable for them, but they do not complete the issues of the peace agenda. The guarantees of the security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, the protection of their rights and freedoms, as well as the clarification of the final status of Nagorno-Karabakh are of fundamental importance to us,” said Armenia’s Prime Minister, noting that these issues are included in our answers to the peace agenda and should be the subject of negotiations.
“Of course, as before, we consider the involvement of the OSCE MG Co-Chairs in this process essential. We must continue to work in that direction,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
