Members of the upper house of the US Congress, the Senate, voted in favor of banning the import of energy from Russia in response to the events in Ukraine.
Although the vote is not over yet, 55 out of 100 senators have already voted in favor of the bill, but no one has voted against.
The initiative is said to be a copy of US President Joe Biden's decree banning the import of energy from Russia and new investments in Russia's energy sector.
