Latvian authorities made a decision to lower the level of diplomatic relations with Russia, Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics announced.
"Latvia will reduce its diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation," he tweeted Monday, adding that this decision was made in connection with the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, and that specific decisions will be announced "once internal procedures are complete."
Earlier on Monday, Lithuanian authorities announced a decision to "lower the status of the diplomatic mission." Russian Ambassador to Vilnius will have to leave Lithuania; in addition, Lithuania shuts down Russian consulate general in Klaipeda.
