Slovakia took the initiative to coordinate the positions of EU countries on the payment for Russian natural gas, Prime Minister of Slovakia Eduard Heger stated.
“Thanks to Slovakia, the European Union's approach to paying for Russian gas has begun to become coordinated,” said Heger, calling it necessary to maintain the unity of EU countries in the purchase of natural gas.
According to the Slovak Prime Minister, Russia seeks to disrupt long-term gas supply contracts by demanding payments in rubles. According to him, the EU countries will continue to pay for Russian gas in euros and dollars, in accordance with the terms of the agreements with Gazprom.
