Lithuania refused to import Russian gas. About it informs country’s energy ministry. This is the first EU country to officially announce such a decision.
“Aiming for complete energy independence from Russian gas, in response to Russia’s energy blackmail in Europe and the war in Ukraine, Lithuania has completely abandoned Russian gas: since the beginning of this month, the Lithuanian gas transportation system has been operating without Russian gas imports,” the release says.
The ministry noted that the Lithuanian gas transportation system has been operating without Russian gas imports since April 1. All demand in Lithuania is met by the Klaipeda liquefied natural gas terminal.
