Amnesty International published a report on one of the topics, which deals with the Armenian captives illegally detained in Azerbaijan and their future.
“In November, the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights called on Azerbaijan to effectively investigate all violations in the context of the armed conflict and to ensure that victims have access to legal remedies,” the statement said.
The authors of the report note that back in September, the Council of Europe in its report “expressed concern over the fact that dozens of prisoners were in inhumane conditions.”
“Prisoners are tried in an expedited manner, without fair trial. The fate and whereabouts of some 30 Armenian captives remain unknown, despite the fact that there are allegations of their forced disappearance, possibly even murder,” the report said.
Amnesty International's experts also address the issue of torture and other ill-treatment during the 2020 war and beyond.
“Numerous reports of torture and other ill-treatment have been received, confirming that members of the Azerbaijani armed forces tortured Armenian prisoners, subjected them to various forms of torture during their capture, transfer, and detention, but no such investigation has been effectively investigated,” the statement reads.
