The agreement on Ukraine's security will be submitted to a referendum, the procedure of which will begin only after the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine. This was stated by Mykhailo Podolyak, Advisor to the Chief of Staff of the President of Ukraine.
"In order for the Security Treaty to be properly enshrined in international law, there must be a post-referendum procedure in Ukraine, followed by ratification by the Verkhovna Rada of the parliaments guaranteeing its ratification," Podolyak said and noted that the referendum will not be held as long as there is martial law in the country.
At the same time, Podolyak clarified that the Russian Armed Forces should withdraw from the positions they occupied on February 23 of this year.
Podolyak also added that the Security Treaty of Ukraine will be open, “all interested countries will be able to join it.”
