The Czech Republic expects to receive financial assistance from the European Union due to the significant expenditures from the state budget assigned for getting refugees from Ukraine. The statement came from Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský.
“I believe that we will be able to get funds from the European Union for the Czech state budget, so that we can cover the costs of the country, which arises when providing assistance to refugees,” said Lipavský.
Since February 24, the Czech authorities have issued about 230,000 special visas to Ukrainian refugees, which allow them to obtain asylum in the country. There are now about 300,000 refugees from Ukraine in the Czech Republic. Many of them are not yet officially registered.
