On March 25, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Eduard Aghajanyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to the Republic of Armenia Anne Louyot.
Eduard Aghajanyan thanked the friendly France, especially for permanently supporting our country and the Armenian people in numerous issues after gaining independence of the Republic of Armenia. In this context, the Committee Chair underlined the resolutions and calls on condemning the Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression and the recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic by the two chambers of Parliament of France .
Speaking about bilateral cooperation, the sides have documented that the interaction between Armenia and France is at high level. In this regard, Eduard Aghajanyan highlighted the holding of the Forum “Ambitions: Armenia-France” dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Armenia and France, where the delegation headed by the RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took part.
As a Member of the NA Armenia-France Friendship Group, Eduard Aghajanyan valued the development of the effective cooperation of the Friendship Groups. Touching upon the regional developments, the Committee Chair presented the situation created because of the violation of the contact line of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the invasion to Parukh village of Artsakh by Azerbaijan. According to Eduard Aghajanyan, the provocative actions of Azerbaijan endanger the regional stability and peace, as well as grossly violate the obligations stipulated by trilateral statements.
The Committee Chair has noted that one of the most important agenda items is the return of prisoners of war and other captives to the Motherland, which is a humanitarian problem.
The Ambassador has reaffirmed that effective dialogue exists between the authorities of the two countries. Anne Louyot talked about the importance of deepening of cooperation between the parliaments and highly appreciated the democratization process in Armenia.
