The session of the UN Regional Commission for Europe of the World Tourism Organization will be held in Yerevan on June 1-3 this year. During the discussions, the potential directions for the development of Armenia's tourism sector, from ecotourism to rural tourism, will be presented.
Lusine Avagyan (Chief Specialist of the Committee on International Cooperation of the Committee on Tourism) - The event is extremely responsible and important. We expect to host delegations from 42 member states of the European Regional Commission at the level of heads of responsible departments of tourism sector.
Lusine Azizyan (incoming tour manager of a travel company) - I think this is a great opportunity to talk about Armenia from other platforms, to talk more, and as a result, more tourists will visit Armenia.
Armenia has been a full member of the UN World Tourism Organization since 1997, was nominated for the first time in 2021 and was elected a member of the Executive Board of the World Tourism Organization. About 160 countries are members of the organization, 35 states are members of the executive council.
Lusine Avagyan - This, among a number of other advantages, gave us the main opportunity, that is, the right to vote, the opportunity to participate in the decision-making of the organization.
The officials of the sphere are sure that the sitting of the commission to be held in Yerevan will strengthen the cooperation between the leading tourism countries, will also contribute to the improvement of Armenia's position in the European region.
