On March 20, the delegation led by the RA NA President Alen Simonyan took part in the inaugural ceremony of the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Nusa Dua, Bali.
The speakers of parliaments of 110 countries are represented in the Assembly, separate meetings-debates are scheduled for the MPs and Secretaries General.
The main direction of the Summit is the series of the debates on the theme Getting to zero: Mobilizing parliaments to act on climate change. Within the framework of the agenda items it is designed to exchange ideas and opinions over the draft resolution on the role of parliaments in the protection of human rights, international trafficking and migration policy issues to be adopted in the 145th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The parliamentarians will touch upon with a special meeting the theme on the development of international cooperation of judicial persecution against corruption, as well as reports on the attitude towards the peace processes in different countries.
Within the framework of the Assembly a workshop dedicated to the universal ban on the nuclear weapon tests is envisaged.
