At the sitting of the NA Foreign Relations Committee, Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan, among other issues, touched upon the topic of demarcation and delimitation.
"On November 26, 2021, in the Russian city of Sochi, a statement was signed between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan, stating that the parties agreed to take steps to increase security and stability on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and formation of a bilateral demarcation and demarcation commission.
Our government is now making active efforts to implement this agreement, and has come up with a practical package of proposals,” Mirzoyan said.
The Minister reminded that these proposals are based on the principles of mirror withdrawal of Armenian and Azerbaijani troops, and replacement of troops with border guards.
“Azerbaijan has publicly stated, without entering into substantive discussions, that it rejects this proposal. There is no further progress in this regard, but we continue to work. The essential thing here is to ensure the inviolability of the borders, to ensure further stability, and to ensure the security of the residents,” said the Foreign Minister.
