At the sitting of the NA Foreign Relations Committee Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan stated that one of the important directions of the foreign policy work in 2021 was the unblocking of transport communications and economic ties in the region.
He reminded that on January 11, 2021, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, the President of the Russian Federation and the President of Azerbaijan signed an announcement on the establishment of a trilateral working group on unblocking all economic and transport ties in the region.
“Armenia is represented in the trilateral working group by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan. The group had 8 working meetings in 2021, expert subgroups on the organization of infrastructure, as well as border, customs and other control functions are created.
As a result, an agreement was reached to launch the Yeraskh-Julfa-Ordubad-Meghri-Horadiz route during the meetings of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan in Sochi on November 26, 2021, and in Brussels on December 15, 2021,” said the Minister.
According to Mirzoyan, work is underway to de jure fix the agreements.
“Now there is a general perception that all unblocked roads and transport infrastructure must operate under the sovereignty and legislation of the countries through which they pass,” Mirzoyan said.
