In the framework of participation in the 66th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, Narek Mkrtchyan, the Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs continues meeting with representatives, leaders of different countries’ delegations.
During the meeting with Åsa Regnér, the Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director for Normative Support, UN System Coordination and Programme Results of UN Women, the minister stressed the necessity of providing favorable conditions for the realization of women and men's rights and opportunities in all spheres of public life, as well as gender equality and empowerment of women. The possibility of creating an office in Armenia was also discussed.
The parties discussed the role of measures to include the gender component in all spheres of socio-political, socio-economic and cultural life, to create a national mechanism for achieving gender equality. The bilateral readiness was emphasized for taking necessary steps towards expanding the cooperation.
