Washington is ready to support any decision of the Ukrainian authorities on membership to NATO, US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price stated at the briefing.
“We always inform our Ukrainian partners, as well as all countries, that this (ed. NATO membership) is their sovereign right, which they must exercise independently," he said.
On March 5, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that NATO membership was unrealistic, which they are well aware of. At the same time, he called on the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance to establish a no-fly zone over Ukrainian airspace, emphasizing that they understand all the possible consequences that this could lead to.
