The chief diplomats of Armenia and Turkey met within the framework of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum. Ararat Mirzoyan and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu reaffirmed their readiness to carry out the process of full normalization of relations between Yerevan and Ankara and the establishment of good-neighborly relations without preconditions. During a short question-and-answer session with journalists after the meeting, Minister Mirzoyan stressed that he considered the invitation to participate in the forum a positive message.
ARMENIAN-TURKISH RELATIONS PROCESS
Ararat Mirzoyan (Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs) - During the meeting we reaffirmed the readiness of both sides to continue the normalization process for establishing relations, opening of borders, without any preconditions, and our two representatives are working in that direction. I hope we will see positive results in the near future. I am glad to see that all the states of the region, all the peoples are trying to build peace and stability in our region, at least, there is that readiness on the part of Armenia to have peace and stability.
The Turkish Foreign Minister also spoke about the need for stability in the region, noting that he had been in Baku a few days ago and that, according to him, Azerbaijan also supports the process of normalization of relations between Yerevan and Ankara. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stressed that all parties fully support this process.
Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu (Turkish Foreign Minister) - I can say that it was a very productive and constructive meeting. As you know, we have started a process to normalize our relations. After the reciprocal positive messages of Turkish President Erdogan and Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan, we have appointed special representatives, who met in Moscow and Vienna. Peace and stability in the region are in everyone's interests. We will continue to take steps in this direction.
