The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has announced the termination of the Russian delegation to the Assembly. Member of the Russian delegation, Senator Vladimir Krugli, announced this on March 14.
"The PACE informed the Russian delegation about the termination of Russia's membership in the Assembly immediately after the decision of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe," RIA Novosti quoted the politician as saying.
On February 25, State Duma deputy and Head of the Russian delegation to the PACE Peter Tolstoy announced that the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe had refused to cooperate with Russia. Tolstoy criticized this decision, noting that without Russia no council would make sense, as it is the largest country.
The notice was sent to the Federal Council and State Duma.
On March 3, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Gennady Gatilov stated that with the support of the United Nations, Western countries intend to reduce Russia's presence in the international arena. Not only the UN Human Rights Council and the Disarmament Conference but also the European Economic Commission are used to achieve their goals.
On the same day, the United States acknowledged the impossibility of excluding Russia from the UN Security Council.
