Kazakhstan has banned exports of cash foreign currency in excess of $10,000 as well as exports of gold bars and coins and refined gold in excess of 100 grams, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s office said on Monday, Reuters reports.
The move is aimed at the “protection of Kazakhstan’s national interests and ensuring financial stability”, according to the presidential decree. Kazakhstan’s financial markets have been rattled by Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.
