The blocking of the Instagram social network in Russia started on Monday, March 14, against the background of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine. Netblocks and Globalcheck services, as well as Russian users of the social network reported this, Deutsche Welle writes.
The Russian authorities announced their intention to block Instagram on March 11 because of the decision of the leadership of the social network to allow the publication of calls for violence against the Russian military in Ukraine.
"We have temporarily allowed some forms of political expression that would normally be considered a violation of our ban on incitement to violence," said Meta spokesman Andy Stone.
On March 11, Roskomnadzor announced the blocking of this resource belonging to the American company Meta, which also owns the social network Facebook, from March 11.
Earlier, on March 4, Roskomnadzor announced the blocking of Facebook in Russia, as well as a number of media outlets, including Deutsche Welle.
