Russia on Thursday announced that it has decided to unilaterally open a humanitarian corridor to Russia on a daily basis, as other humanitarian corridors in most parts of Ukraine had failed to achieve any significant positive results.
The Russian side decided to officially announce that it will "unilaterally open the humanitarian corridor to Russia" starting from 10 am Moscow time every day without any agreement, while the humanitarian corridors in other directions need to be coordinated with Ukraine. The Russian side will ensure full security in the areas under the control of Russian armed forces.
The Russian database has recorded 2,617,349 people from nearly 2,000 settlements in Ukraine wishing to evacuate. More than 7,000 citizens from 21 countries are still being held hostage by Ukrainian "neo-Nazis" who have not responded to official and unofficial requests for relief, Mikhail Mezentsev, director of the National Defense Management Center said.
Despite difficulties and obstacles, since the start of the special military operation on February 24, Russia has managed to evacuate more than 187,000 people, including 46,696 children, from dangerous areas in Ukraine, Mezentsev mentioned, adding that more than 22,000 private cars have passed the border checkpoints.
Mezentsev said that all walks of life in Russia have prepared more than 16,500 tons of humanitarian aid supplies and have delivered 1,421 tons of the supplies to Ukraine, while 186 humanitarian operations have been carried out so far.
