US Defense Minister told his Polish counterpart Mariusz Błaszczak that the US does not support Warsaw’s proposal to send MIG-29 fighter aircraft to Kyiv through Washington. Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby reported during the briefing.
According to him, the intelligence community assessed that the transfer of MIG-29s to Ukraine may be mistaken as escalatory and increases the conflict danger between Russia and NATO.
At the same time, Kirby added that sovereign nations can decide for themselves what they want to do.
“But this idea, that proposal of transferring these jets to our custody for then transferring to Ukraine, that is something that we are not going to explore right now”, Kirby said.
