The Turkish Defense Ministry is in talks with Russia and Ukraine on the return of two aircraft from Borispol airport, that have been there since February 24, Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar said on Saturday, TASS reports.
"On February 24, we sent two A400M aircraft with humanitarian aid [to Ukraine]. At the same time, we planned to evacuate our citizens from there. Two aircraft are now remaining at Borispol airport due to the closure of airspace. We are in contact both with Russia and Ukraine on this issue in order to ensure the maximum safety of our airplanes," the Haberturk TV channel quoted the minister as saying.
Akar recalled that he held talks with Russian and Ukrainian Defense Ministers, Sergey Shoigu and Alexey Reznikov. "We held the negotiations and are going to resume them. We are expecting positive developments," the Turkish defense minister noted.
